  Disabled not unable
Activities/ services/ empowerment/ programs

There is a perception by some members of the society that people with disabilities are incompetent, especially in the mainstream economy.

DPKT programs, activities and services have been specially designed to empower people with disabilities with skills and knowledge to match the capabilities of people with no disabilities.

They are:

  • Recycling
We collect waste plastics, papers, card boxes and plastic bottles and sell them to recycling company for reuse.

  • Food gardening
We grow fruits and vegetables and sell them fresh, to the community.

  • Art and beads work
We have beads, art works and paintings to decorate your home.

  • Silk screening printing
Anything you want written or printed on your t-shirt, we do it.

  • Shoe and leather production
Bring your shoes and leathers for repair, at minimal cost.

  • Sewing
Duvet and bible covers, among others.

  • Computer Literacy skills
Our computer classes covers typing on Microsoft word, powerpoint presentations, excel, access, designing business cards and searching for information on the internet.

  • Embroidery Production
Our highly dedicated team specialises with school uniforms and tracksuits.

The organisation’s local skills development partners are Springs Arts Gallery, CBDP and Springs Youth Development Centre. The money that is generated by the sales of the products is ploughed into helping to sustain the organisation and the business. Members are put on different learnership programs conducted by service Seta.

We sell our products ourselves at churches, schools, social and burial clubs, wards meetings and pension pay points and at Kwa-Thema Old Age Home.
