Phila Nyandeni
Phila “Oskido” Nyandeni is a co-founder
and a Chief Executive Officer of the organisation.
He is responsible for managing day-to-day operations.
He got a car accident in 1993, which made him
lose the function of his legs and hands - quadriplegic.
Phila was born in 1970 in Swaziland
and in 2003 he received a certificate in Management
Education at the Community Base Development
Programme centre (CBDP) in Johannesburg. He
completed Life Skills training in 2004 at Spellbound
Education in Pretoria. He is a household name
and a respected pastor in his community. The
Springs Chamber of Commerce and Industry has
also noticed his sense of community. In 2002
he was the overall winner of the Chamber’s
Outstanding Individual Commitment to the Community
award.
In 2003 Phila won Community Dedication and
Commitment award, sponsored by the Sowetan,
Old Mutual and the South African Broadcasting
Corporation (SABC).
Prior to the accident, Phila was working for
the South African Security Services. He has
also worked in Swaziland at the sugar company.
He has been married to Maria for 14 years and
they have been blessed with two kids; daughter
Siboniso and a son, Vusimuzi.

Mphikelile Thomas Maseko
Thomas “Bhiza” Maseko is a co-founder
and a current Administrator of DPKT organisation,
responsible for managing administration work,
including finance.
Thomas was born with postfolio in 1968 in
Springs, East Rand. He says he is disabled
and not unable. In 2000 Thomas obtained a
Computer Literacy certificate at Tlamoha College
in Kwa-Thema. In 1999 he successfully completed
a course in Community Dispute Resolution at
the Independent Mediation Services of South
Africa in Johannesburg.
He is also a leader and a manager by training,
with a Leadership and Management certificate
that he obtained at CBDP Management Education
in 2003. In 2004 he passed Life Skills training
At Spellbound Education.
Thomas has worked for Ekurhuleni Metropole
as a fieldworker team screening.
He is a treasurer of Kwa-Thema Health Soup
Kitchen, a feeding Scheme for TB, HIV\AIDS
patient and pensioners, and a member of Ward
46 committee, responsible for the people with
disabilities and senior citizens.

Rabi Oupa Mabelane
Oupa “Rabbit” Mabelane is a third
member of the founders of the organisation and
serves as their Public Relations Officer, responsible
for marketing and branding DPKT.
Oupa says they were motivated to start DPKT
by some of the society members’ perception
that people with disabilities cannot be competent,
especially in the mainstream economy.
He is fighting a chest cancer, a disease
that has been terrorising him since childhood.
Oupa was born in 1964 in Springs, East rand.
Oupa is also involved in a special project
at Kwa-Thema Main Clinic, feeding patients
who have TB, HIV/Aids as well as children
and senior citizens.
